...been an Aunt

On April 22, my precious niece Kaedence Elizabeth was born.  She is absolutely perfect and I'm so excited to see what a beautiful young woman she'll become.

But for now, I'm just going to enjoy her tiny fingers and toes.  Here is a picture of the first time I held her and a picture of us at our very first slumber party.

...been so embarrassed of my own home

Keep in mind that my past "neighbors" have consisted of a pygmy goat named Ricky Bobby and a couple who had found/claimed an empty garage apartment and would often plug into my house's electricity or would offer to do yard work for us by appearing on top our two story roof.

I have loved my new house from the day we moved in, but recently our yard has revolted and has begun to take over.  For over a year and a half, our land lord has taken care of the yard work; however, recently this has not been the case because our yard team has been "lost".  We'd be happy to take care of the work if we had proper tools, but for now we will wait and take photos of the ridiculousness of it all.

These pictures are of my favorite weed in our yard.  It has grown almost as tall as Meg and has developed quite the personality.  Name suggestions are welcome!

...gone canoeing

This past weekend some friends and I headed out to the lake for an early morning canoe trip.  Originally, I had planned on using my 50% discount for a one-hour kayak rental that I had purchased from Living Social but we hadn't made reservations.

Not to be discouraged, we headed over to Zilker Park Boat Rentals and went ahead with our plans.  It only cost $10 an hour per canoe which makes for a very affordable Austin activity.  Canoeing on Town/Lady Bird Lake was so much fun and I cannot wait to go again!
